Isra and Mi'raj
الإسراء والمعراج
Isra and Mi'raj commemorates the miraculous Night Journey and Ascension of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), observed on the 27th of Rajab. According to Islamic tradition, the Prophet was transported from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca (Masjid al-Haram) to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem (Isra), and then ascended through the heavens (Mi'raj) where he met previous prophets and received the command for five daily prayers. This event is considered one of the most significant miracles in Islam. The journey reinforced the importance of prayer (salah) in Islam and established Jerusalem as the third holiest city in Islam. Muslims observe this night with special prayers, recitation of the Quran, and reflection on the spiritual significance of the event.
