Ramadan Start
بداية رمضان
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (sawm), prayer, reflection, and community. The month lasts 29–30 days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. During this month, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs. It is a time of spiritual purification and increased devotion. The first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is believed to have occurred during Ramadan. Muslims also engage in increased charity and community gatherings, particularly for the evening meal (iftar) that breaks the daily fast. The month culminates with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
